How often should you go to the eye doctor?

Veronica and Anthony want to know, “How often should you go to the eye doctor?”

Dr. Kirschbaum, VSP network eye doctor, recommends people get their vision checked every year, starting when they are very young. Children should have their first eye exam at six months old, then at three years old, before starting school and yearly thereafter. According to the American Optometric Association, 80% of learning is visual. Annual comprehensive eye exams help ensure that kids can do their best in school, sports and other activities they enjoy.

No matter your age, comprehensive eye exams are beneficial because they can also help with early detection of eye conditions and diseases that can be better treated if caught early.

Find a VSP network eye doctor near you to schedule your annual eye exam.

That’s how they knew I needed glasses; I got a note to take home from the teacher, saying that I was squinting at the chalkboard. I’m now 63, and have worn glasses ever since.
