Four Must-Have Glasses Inspired by the 2019 Award Season

By on

It’s the time of year where we all wait to see what looks will cross the historical red carpets of La La Land for the 2019 award season. As usual, the award season kicked off with dramatic looks from some of our favorite iconic celebrities. While they dazzle us with their inspiring gowns and ensembles, we sit patiently and wait for the bold choices in eyewear to blaze new trails for the year to come. Here are our four favorite trends inspired by what we’ve seen so far this award season.

2019 Award Season

Clear and Round Glasses

Smooth, circular lines with a modern, clear look are gracing the faces of our favorite style icons. The clear frame continues to grow in popularity since becoming a staple color choice in recent years. Now, combined with the now-popular round shape, this style is a win for anyone looking to step outside of the expected and into the world of show-stopping glasses.

For this look, we chose the Nike 7113 frames from Eyeconic. These frames are not only red-carpet ready but also built for endurance. What else would you expect from Nike but a frame that marries the world of athleticism and fashion?

Attention-Grabbing Patterns with Metal Accents

Mixed media are for more than your interior design passions. We’re seeing beautiful combinations of metal and acetate (plastic) frames make their way through the flashing lights. With bold patterns on the rise, the best way to elevate a fun frame is to incorporate a strong metal bridge and arms. For this look we’re gasping over the CK8061 frames below.

Calvin Klein is revamping their style to embrace modern looks with traditional themes. It doesn’t hurt that they’ve also found a way to combine the best of both worlds when it comes to the materials they use to design their glasses.

Hitting All the Angles

Bow-worthy brow lines are making their way onto the red carpet, and we’re loving the attention to detail. Long gone are the days of straight, rectangular frames or slightly curved tops. Designers are embracing the endless possibilities in shape and style. Included in this movement is the rise in geometric glam.

MCM is our go-to for bold and beautifully designed frames. With a portfolio bursting with creativity, we never grow tired of their releases. These MCM frames have us admiring the light from all angles.

Classic Cat Eye

Blush tortoise is here to stay, and when it’s paired with the classic look of the cat-eye, it’s bound to make a splash on the red carpet. These pretty frames go perfectly with just about everything, making them a great everyday pair of glasses. Cole Haan has released some breathtaking frames in recent years, and these are our number one pick from the collection carried on Eyeconic.

Cat-eye? Nah no. Metal accents, patterns and clear frames? Yes please!

  • Teresa says:

    Love the MCM ones!

  • Sue says:

Hitting all the angles is my favorite

  • Elizabeth says:

I also love the MCM and cat eye – so cool!

  • Nancy P says:

The only problem with clear frames is that if you spend a lot of time outdoors in the sun, the plastic will start to yellow and turn dingy. If they can ever solve that problem, I’ll try them again someday. The yellowing is such a disappointment!

    • Diane says:

Thank you for letting me know, because the clear frames sounded great. When I go outside I usually wear sun shields over my glasses. But with the cost of glasses you would think they would make a better quality or replace them.

  • Asian gal says:

Showing glasses those with flat noses can’t wear

  • Joni Padron says:

Love the updated looks…just wish Plastic frames had extended nose pieces for people like me (Asian) without Anglo nose bridges!

  • Leanne Long says:

I agree on the cat eyes! I wore them as a teenager!

  • I would like frame less glasses with out those nose piece that hurts your nose!!

  • Jo says:

Do any of these come in a 48 or 49 eye size?

    • Angelina F. says:

Yes, the Nike 7113 comes in size 49 and come in three colors. The Calvin Klein glasses are slightly larger at 50.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I will check these out. In the meantime, if there are cobalt blues in a 48 or 49 eye size, please advise. Thanks

  • Donna says:

Not only Asians have a problem with the plastic frames, my eyelashes hit them as they sit too close! Refuse to trim my lashes!

  • DD says:

    Yummy….but not spec tacular
COSCO has had metal plastic combo for years..

  • Lois P Stansbury says:

Images of models wearing these frames would be helpful to me.

  • Debbie says:

Why cant they make plastic frames with adjustable nose pads? Love plastic frames, but I can never keep them up.

  • Ruth DeAeth says:

Sorry don’t like any of them

  • Cynthia says:

I like color solid color frames without nose piece, hurts my nose.

  • jas wats says:

    Don’t men need glasses too?

  • Darlene Jackson says:

What if I purchase a frame and it does not compliment my features, could I return the frame?

  • Marcella B says:

I wish the companies would remember that ‘one pair doesn’t fit everyone’. I have been looking for glass frames for 3 years that are size 48 but has a lense 31-33 in size. They consider 48 a child or petite frame and make the lense small for kids I need room for bifocal.

  • Marilyn says:

No cat woman for me! Need new frames (mild Rx – nearsided) having a tough time finding anything without the “cat” look, so much so that I just looked into Lasik. Used to have more rectangular shaped frames from Versace, one a pair of beautiful sunglasses in tortoise shell, the other clear lenses in spectacular red, my fav color. Still on the prowl for the right pairs for me.
