New SunSync Lens Goes from Dark to Clear in Seconds

By on

If you’ve ever worn lenses that change from dark outdoors to clear indoors, this situation probably sounds familiar: You’re outside and your lenses are nice and dark, then you step inside and wait…and wait…and wait…and wait for them to return to clear. At some point you get so tired of waiting for your lenses to get out of that awkward, half-tinted phase, that you might be tempted to just tuck your glasses in your purse and brave the world with blurred vision or maybe put on a disguise and hang out in a dark corner until you’re confident your lenses are finally clear.

Okay, the disguise might be a bit of an exaggeration, but there’s a good chance you’ve thought about it once or twice. Thankfully, you don’t have to think about it again—or sacrifice clear vision due to embarrassment. You can now enjoy all the benefits of light-reactive lenses without the long wait.

SunSync Elite is a revolutionary, new light-reactive lens that changes from dark to clear in seconds, getting your lenses back to clear up to 10x faster than Transitions. This means you can finally stop hiding in the dark waiting for your lenses to change, and step forward with the confidence of clear lenses.

Start experiencing elite light-reactive lens performance. Ask your VSP network eye doctor about SunSync Elite and if it might be right for you.

That sounds brilliant. I could use those lenses for my driving glasses and then they would be clear at night.

  • Sandy says:

Do most VSP plans cover SunSync like they cover Transitions?

    • Angelina F. says:

      Hi Sandy,
Thank you for your interest in SunSyncLight-Reactive Lenses. You can find your coverage details by logging into vsp.com or contacting Customer Care.

I was hoping for a video showing how fast that happens, not how slow it is now.

  • Theresa Nelson says:

Darn, just ordered Transitions last Saturday… wasn’t even offered this choice.

  • PETER OBRZUT says:

I have asked my doctors office about SunSync the last time I was there for glasses, and they knew nothing about these.

  • Maggie says:

The real issue with darkening lenses is that they don’t work inside the car, which is the real reason I need dark lenses – driving in the sunlight!

  • Earl Bouchard says:

There was a comment that there is a Drive XT version for use while driving. Do they have the same quick clearing feature?

    • Angelina F. says:

Thank you for your interest in SunSync Light-Reactive Lenses. SunSync Drive XT is the extra-active, light-reactive lens that gets darker and stays darker in the car. SunSync Drive XT does not have the fade back speed that SunSync Elite does, but it does have the fastest fade back speed in the extra-active category.

  • Robin says:

Will the cold cause them to darken like Transition does?

    • Angelina F. says:

      Hi Robin,
Thank you for your interest in SunSync Light-Reactive Lenses. SunSync lenses react to light and UV exposure, so as these conditions change, so do the lenses. Performance of SunSync lenses varies based on temperature, however, they do not clear completely in the cold when light and UV are present.

I just order new lens today and Sun Sync was not offered. How do I get this lens in my new glasses?

  • Blind Bat says:

are these polarized to provide the same UV-A & UV-B protection as real sun glasses?

    • Angelina F. says:

      Hi,
Thank you for your interest in SunSync Light-Reactive Lenses. SunSync lenses are light reactive lenses and offer 100% UV protection, but they are not polarized. Polarized lenses are a different technology and have a special filter to reduce surface glare.

I’ve gotten transition lenses for years, but stopped getting them. For me, that they stay too dark in the cold, even when it’s gloomy or dusk, is too much of a drawback. Will these new lenses clear in the cold?

  • Jane says:

I totally agree with Maggie. I need to buy Rx sunglasses to wear when I drive because the darkening lenses don’t darken in the vehicle. Sure wish there was a lens that darkens in the vehicle so I still don’t need to have 2 pair of glasses.

  • Bill Hillman says:

Are these lenses cover by insurance and do they replace your transition lens or are they extra cost item?

  • Sharok says:

Does SunSync work in driving? I have always been hesitant with translation lenses because they do not change to dark in the car

  • Ray says:

Do they react to the cold Darkening with temperature changes like Transitions? I hate that and its annoying

    • Angelina F. says:

      Hi Ray,
Thank you for your interest in SunSync Light-Reactive Lenses. SunSync lenses react to light and UV exposure, so as these conditions change, so do the lenses.
