Matthew began squinting at the board in middle school. For him, and for many of his classmates at Monarch School in San Diego, Calif., whose daily routines are affected by homelessness, routine eye care would be out of reach if not for visits from VSP Mobile Eyes and Sight for Students gift certificates in partnership with the San Diego County Optometric Society.
Now headed to college with new glasses and an image of his bright future, Matthew can clearly focus on his goal of completing a double major in social work and neurology. When he finishes, he hopes to use his skills to work with kids to show them how to see opportunities and be successful, in spite of their challenges.
