“It’s definitely not something that just because the flood waters have receded, that this is anywhere near finished, by any means … there’s still a long road ahead.” — Dr. Brittney Probst
Although the flood waters from Hurricane Harvey destroyed the optometry practice where Dr. Brittney Probst works, they haven’t destroyed her spirit or commitment to giving people the gift of sight.
Driven to continue using her skills to provide eye care and eyewear to others whose lives were also affected by the floods, we met Dr. Probst on board the VSP Global Eyes of Hope Mobile Clinic at NRG Stadium and other locations throughout the Greater Houston area, where she spent her time doing exactly that.
Inspired by her commitment to the people in her community, we sat down with her to learn more about her experiences providing eye care to flood evacuees, as well as her own road to recovery.
Here’s her story.
In support of VSP network doctors and community members affected by the recent natural disasters, VSP Global has committed up to $5 million dollars through relief program assistance. This includes helping VSP network doctors, whose businesses have been damaged, return to providing eye care and eyewear in their communities.
